The Proposal
In order to understand the proposal we need to go back to the beginning. The first time Carlos asked Ericka to be his girlfriend, he made sure it was significant. He therefore decided to take her to WaterFire in Providence. First, they ate at the Cheescake Factory (because at that time Ericka had never been to the Cheesecake Factory before). After indulging in a delicious entrée and cheesecake, Carlos decided to take Ericka for a stroll by the river. As they kept walking, Carlos decided to take a break and Ericka sat on a bench by the river. It was then that Carlos took out a a beautiful ruby necklace and asked Ericka to be his.
Fast forward a few years to November 22, 2014 when Carlos again decides to take Ericka out on a date. This date was supposed to be their "monthaversay date". (Most people would have stopped celebrating months after their first year, but this couple keeps doing so).
Ericka thought nothing of this date, even as they entered the Cheesecake Factory. It seemed like another stroll down memory lane, which they had done before. However this time it was different, Carlos was hiding a big secret, one that would change both of their lives.
As they exited the restaurant Carlos asked Ericka to walk down the river like they usually did. On this frigid late fall evening, Ericka was unsure but decided to go, afterall they were already there. As they walked down the path they started to reminisce and as soon as they reached the site where he first asked her out they were trying to decide which bench it was. Then Carlos asked if she wanted a picture taken.
This should have been the red flag. He does not like to take pictures and Ericka usually has to ask him. However at this moment Ericka thought nothing of it. She posed as she normally would with a big grin. Then he asked if she would take a picture of him. She agreed. Again this should have been a red flag, but it wasn't.
As she goes to take the picture Carlos takes off his blazer and hands it to Ericka. Ericka takes it and puts it down asking him if he's cold, however proceeds to take the picture. Right before she is able to click the button he states, "but wait, there is something in the blazer for you first."
At this point Ericka was just confused. But as she lifted the blazer she noticed it was hard… but why? She looked at Carlos puzzled. As she opened the blazer she saw it. A scrap book page with the words, "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" and sparkling hearts and a picture of a ring. (If you don’t know, Ericka's secret hobby is scrapbooking). As she turned stunned to see Carlos, he was already down on one knee in front of her with a ring in hand . Carlos went on to ask the question and Ericka already accepted.
Fast forward a few months, and we find ourselves viewing this page getting ready for their wedding!
Fun fact. The date was more signifant than you would think. 11/22/14. 11 is the groom's favorite number, 22 is the bride's favorite number, and 14 is their monthaversary. Carlos is more of a romantic than you would have ever guessed.
